What Type Of Shirts Are Allowed? Polo shirts, Henley shirts, turtlenecks and Waldo Site Council approved club t-shirts are the only shirts allowed. Shirts must cover the midriff.

Can T-shirts Be Worn? Yes and No. White t-shirts are allowed when worn under a dress code shirt. Also, Waldo Site Council approved club t-shirts can be worn.
Are Sweaters O.K. To Wear In Class? Sweaters in one of the solid dress code colors are fine. Sweaters with buttons, zippers, crew neck or v-neck need to be worn over a dress code shirt. Turtleneck sweaters may be worn alone.
What About Sweatshirts? Waldo Pride sweatshirts are optional and are available for $12. These Waldo sweatshirts are the only sweatshirts that will be allowed in classes. They are to be worn over a dress code shirt.
Are Shirts With Colored Stitching Or Striped Around The Sleeves And/Or Color Acceptable? No. All shirts need to be a solid dress code color. Colored stitching or stripes anywhere on the shirt are not acceptable.
Are Symbols O.K. On Shirts Or Pants? No. Symbols are not O.K. on shirts. The most common symbols on shirts are small designs on the left corner or a brand name on the sleeve. On pants there are several brands that have large, noticeable insignias on the front and/or back pockets. These insignias are not O.K.
Are Non-Cotton Tops O.K.? Yes. SHirts can be of material other than cotton (for example, velour, silk). What the dress code does address are appropriate lengths and styles of shirts.
What Is The Issue With Belts? Long belts and metal belt buckles with initials on them are not O.K. Both of these have been identified by the Salem-Keizer Gang Task Force as being "gang related". Red and light blue belts are not allowed.
When Is The Dress Code In Effect? The dress code is in effect during the school day. During after-school and evening activities, students must comply with Salem-Keizer's Middle School Dress Code Policy. |
